Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
We will know more when the engine is ripped apart but from peeking with the fiber optic camera at RRE it looks like I had previous damage to the piston as it was melted real good and it let go with only 15psi and like 3-5* of timing on e85.
From as soon as we got it on the dyno it was being real knock happy and it seemed that it was phantom knock so we pulled a rattling heat shield and check the sensor. It seemed like it had to be phantom maybe caused by the evo3 down-pipe now attached to a 2G style O2 was pushing the flex section up against the oil pan. So we turned the knock sensor off and on the first low boost baby run shit went pop.
I'm actually a little happy because at least now I know what the hell was wrong with the motor and can get it fixed.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
So because of what you just said is the main reason you were losing oil and had to much pressure. How did the piston get damaged previously.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
There is no HD option for the 6-bolt 2.3 Hugo.
And Wally I'm not sure where the original damage happened. But the car had low compression in cylinders 1 and 2 from the very first compression test I ran on it so it may very well have been from some of my early street tuning on 91 octane back when the motor was first built.
I do know that when I first got things running I put the black top CAS on just by lining up the marks where it was previously mounted and it ended up being way off but I don't remember which way right now. I fixed it to stock before the first dyno setting but it may have made my timing way to advanced for my early street pulls. I do intend to to recheck the position of the CAS when we get the car running again as it still looks a bit advanced when you look at it. I think the timing marks on the plastic cover may not be lining up right.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
Also, I check my timing in the wheel well, from the top it comes out a few degrees more advanced than it should be. But I emailed you, pistons should be in in 2-4 days. If you got time, pull the head and get it prepped. So we just gotta drop the pistons out, cut the rings, and hone the block. Drop the head back on and good to go.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
Thanks Sam, I will do my best to get the head and oil pan off. I will be out of town Friday through Monday though.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
you can doo what alot of people have done with the 7-bolt stroker pistons and have the rod bored for a 22mm wrist pin as opposed to the 21mm.
