I was going to paint it Chevy orange but I got lazy and didn't want to pay Millennium extra to do it.

 Re: Wes's 2.3l 6-bolt build
It took me forever to run my -6 AN line form the tank to the new filter today. I spent way to much time getting the old hardline out, I should have just left it there but I didn't realize how hard it would be to get it around the subframe until I was already doing it.
And then I had one AN fitting that just fought for ever, I ended up cutting the line about 10 times before it wouldn't fray. I'm usually really good at setting up the fittings but that one was a bastard.

 Re: Wes's 2.3l 6-bolt build
Fuck today, I destroyed my brand new B&M Oil Cooler earlier. I know that you need to use Teflon on the fittings that thread into the cooler but I seriously just had them in hand tight for mocking up the cooler to see where the lines would go and in the time it took to to mock it up without them even being close to tight they managed to seize up in the cooler and destroy the threads.
So now I need two new fittings and a new oil cooler.

Damn, they seized only being hand tight? Think your 'hand tight' is a little too burly.

 Re: Wes's 2.3l 6-bolt build
They weren't even tight before they seized they were turning on their own as I shifted the cooler around and then they just seized up and ruined my night.
I've never seen shit like that happen so fast and with so little pressure.

I'm still trying to muster up the motivation to go to the shop to do you trans. Trying to get a hold of my chick to see when she wants to hang out so I can figure out time to go do it.

 Re: Wes's 2.3l 6-bolt build
As far as eliminating balance shafts goes this is my first time doing it and it will be with a bully balanced rotating assembly. I have no idea if it maters with a stock rotating assembly but I'm sure tons of people have done it. Got some more stuff done today and I'm pretty much ready to drop the engine and trans back in. I don't have school on Wednesdays so I hope to put it in this Wednesday. Here are some pictures of things. There is some tight clearance on the oil drain line around the motor mount. I made a proper bracket to mount my flex fuel sensor. Here is a shot of the trans side of the engine, I put on the thermostat housing today. Balling motor mount. It is a pretty tight fit between the turbo and the water pipe but it just made it without having to dent the pipe. Here is an overall shot of the top of the engine all ready to go. Here is a shot of me hard at work in the engine bay and you can see the oil cooler mount I made with the hosed cooler still there. And here is a shot of the engine bay after cleaning.

 Re: Wes's 2.3l 6-bolt build
Why do you have the motor mount bracket bolted to the block? Those are only used on 1G's. When you do a 6 bolt swap you still reuse the stock mount on the trans. On 1G's the front and rear motor mount are on the block. On 2g's the front and rear mount are on the trans.

 Re: Wes's 2.3l 6-bolt build
You are right. This is what happens when I work on things when I am tired. At least it is easy enough to pull that off and put the one on the trans when I get it back from Sam.

 Re: Wes's 2.3l 6-bolt build
Lookin' good Wes! Be glad you don't have to use that motor mount bracket. That thing is a pain in my ass when it comes to I/C piping, and I'll have the same issue w/ the oil return line. Most people grind away the flared edge from what I've seen.
