Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
Yes it is, from the outside it looks just like the stock turbo and bolts straight in. Most people don't bother with it because they are expensive but that guys price on the used on is damn good.

Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
awesome. from what ive been reading all over the place on the net everyone loves it cause it eliminates the lag which i know i would like.
he is about 20 miles or so from me, depending upon where exactly in canyon country he is at.
i sent him a pm asking if he needs anything from the gs im parting out, either way even if he doesnt i think i might grab it up. somehow i gotta justify it to the wife though on it not just being a performance part. maybe i can tell her it will increase mileage or something.....

Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
NO. The one pictured is not the T28 that will bolt onto our cars. The bolt on ones look just like the ones in your car right now, that one pictured does not. And no the t28 will not reduce lag, it lags more than the stock one. Bigger turbo = more lag. More lag = more power (for the most part, gus..your 60-1 .... ) you can get more gas mileage out of a bigger turbo, more lag = no boost = less fuel. You burn more under boost. But thats not the main reason why we go bigger. The one pictured looks like a T3 GT28. You will need a T3 manifold to bolt it on. And that kid selling it doesn't know a thing he's talking about. Hes looking for a T3/T4 turbo. Thats like saying I'm looking for a brown person. Asain? Latin? Light African American? And of the select category, which race? If he wants asian, does he want Thai/Laos/Cambodian/Chinese/Vietnamese? If he wants Latin does he want Mexican/El Salvadorian/Guatamalan/Peurto Rican? Or maybe a Light Black guy? T3/T4 just means its a hybrid turbo. T3 turbine/T4 compressor. What falls under that? GT3076, GT3585, GT3576, GT3586, and a hundred other Garrett BB turbos. Aside from the Journal bearing stuff and Turbonetics Bb and journal series. He is literally asking for a brown person. Also, could he really trade that for any GT series? No. They go for premium $1,000+

Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
Good call Sam, I didn't even look that close I just saw that it was a real T-28 in the description. I should have looked at what can be seen of the O2 housing flange.
whatthefover you should just eventually upgrade to a 16G after you make sure all the maintenance is done on the car.

Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
16G is a good starting turbo, most people are happy there. I've dyno'd 323awhp and 370ft/lbs of tq. And if you've been in my car, it's way faster than most cars that claim similar numbers. Because what people always talk about when they say HP, they always mention peak numbers. If you saw my dyno graphs you would see why people go . 370tq@3700RPM and 323hp@4000RPM, 312@6500RPM and 296hp@8000RPM. This is on a 16G. But Most people wont get where I'm at on a 16G

Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
we'll to each his own, but its a good start. Fairly cheap, makes good power. Simple install. From there you can do all the support mods, and fuel system. After that making more power is as easy as a bigger turbo and pushing buttons on a laptop.

Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
whats the difference in a 16g and a 20g? is the 20g the "big" version of the evo3?

Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
the 20G is a bastardized turbo. Its a 20G compressor which came ins tock trim in the the Mustubishi Fuso commercial trucks and the GM Syclone/Typhoon trucks. Old school hacker tweaker DSM guys orginally made it work with the TD05 turbine wheel and 7cm housing. Then someone found the part number for the TD06H turbine wheel and did that. This setup can net 400hp but your looking at boost by 4k RPM
The 16G can be found in three trims. Small, standard, and big. The small and standard came out of various cars. JDM galant VR4's, EVO 1-2 and other weird mitsubishi turbo cars/suv/vans in Japan. The Mac Daddy of them (that bolt on our cars) is the EVO3 16G (big 16G). Max flow is 38lbs/min IIRC, theres other voodoo magic that can be made to make it flow more. Basicly in theory, each 1lb/min at 100% volumetric efficiency is 8-10hp depending on the turbo efficiency and other factors. But thats a range of 304hp-380hp at the crank. Boost levels past the turbo's efficient boost will net more cylinder pressure which will = more torque. With some molesting you can pull 41lbs/min out of a 16G.
basically you want to chose a turbo you will run in it max efficiency level. No point in a 35R making 350whp at 14psi. A 16G at 310whp at 22psi is way more fun.

Re: hope this isnt a stupid question...
im with you now, smaller turbo with more psi is better for a street car and a big turbo with lower psi is more for a race app because of the rpm ranges that the turbo is going to be making its boost. which is exactly the reason you are making all of your power on your dyno charts on the bottom end vs the top end.
theres a few big 16g's on ebay for 235 and 35 shipping. very tempting.
