Re: Keeping an eye out for cheap tuning laptops.
Depending on the model of netbook, some only fit the mini PCI plug, and those have very small sizes. If you're planning on getting a 2.5 SSD then its going to cost you almost as much as the netbook, you're not going to get much performance gain on an atom base unit. SSD's are best used on full size laptops that have the faster ram speeds and processors to support them.

Re: Keeping an eye out for cheap tuning laptops.
I whole heartedly disagree with that statement. There ARE cheap SSD drives out there, and they do WONDERS on an Atom processor. Atom processors are 1.6Ghz dual core processors (meaning 2 800Mhz cores on one chip). Compared to 1.5Ghz Intel chips of old, they are way faster. Ram shouldn't be a big issue because if you are wanting to do Photoshop on a netbook, you are in the wrong market. Check out http://jkkmobile.blogspot.com and see how well aftemarket SSD drives from Runcore work on these things. It's a night and day difference. Not to mention cloning is really easy with their built in mini USB port.

Re: Keeping an eye out for cheap tuning laptops.
i had heard that its really bad to be driving a bumpy car around with a laptop with a spinning drive.. they are very sensitive and dont like bumps so i though a SSD would be the best option for "in car use" and i dont plan on using it for anything but ecmlink
