Re: My 6 Bolt Motor Build
I need input from you guys on how to properly break-in a new motor. I know there are many different opinoins to this but I am just wondering what most people say...

Re: My 6 Bolt Motor Build
My friend well my cousins friend rebuild his 350 and he told me he ran it hard so the rings will seal nice against the cylinder walls.I don't recommend you do this. Aren't you suppose to take it easy and just cruise it for miles to come and avoid freeway driving.

Always heard the 500 miles easy acceleration below 3k followed by an oil change.

Re: My 6 Bolt Motor Build
According to Greg from Millinium Motorsports, he told me the following when I picked up my engine:
1) REGULAR 30W oil. Straight Dinosaur, No synthetic.
2) DO NOT go Wide Open Throttle. You do need to put a load on the motor. Driving it up and down hills, leaving it in gear going downhill.
3) DO NOT idle it for 10 minutes when you first start it. That will prevent the rings from setting correctly.
4) The first 30-50 miles are the most important as far as making sure the car is on a load. Very important for everything to set.
Oh yeah, prime, prime, prime, prime, the motor before you turn it on.
But dont take my word for it. It's not like I've raced my car countless times, gone on a 3400 mile road trip, daily driven hard, and put down 363 WHP on race gas.
What did your machine shop say to do?

Re: My 6 Bolt Motor Build
There's a million theories, but definitely do not sit there and idle for a few hours. Some people will say baby it, some people will say drive it like you stole it, some say just drive it normally. I say normal, how its going to be driven for the rest of its life, stay under 75% of readline (about 5500RPM), lots of downshifting and coasting in gear. Load is what pushes the rings up against the walls to seat them. But I've seen different break in methods and not seen a motor not break in right unless - A- They ran synthetic, B- it ran on too rich and washed down the walls, or C- Shit build and it broke before anything.
Really though, its hard to do it wrong.
