headlights wont turn off after motor swap
Ok so I swapped a 97 4g63t into a 96 had some issues, but got it all worked out, the only problem now, is that the headlights won't turn off. The tails, interior, and parking lights tuen off, but not the headlights. The only way they wil turn off is when I disconnect the battery, and when I reconnect it, they stay off until I turn them on, then they won't turn off.
Any ideas?

Check the relay for the headlights, it sounds like it is sticking once it is energized.

Re: headlights wont turn off after motor swap
Ill check that, I read on tuners that it could be the alternator fuse,b which sounds crazy as hell, b ut supposedly the alternator fuse is connected to headlight and horn, and I remember that the horn was blaring non stop until I unplugged it. So ill check both those things and report back.

Did you check the fuse before replacing it?

I tried to check it, but the plastic was so faded I couldn't see through it, so I just replaced, but I'm having the sane problem.

Re: headlights wont turn off after motor swap
what about the actual switch on the knob?? kinda like when your turn singals get stuck on one side, its about 60-80 at autozone and easy to change so is its not you can take it back

Re: headlights wont turn off after motor swap
I don't think that's the case, if it were I'm sure the taillights would stay on as well, but they shut off.
Some guys on tuners say it could be the headlight relay, that basically it gets stuck open, so I'm gonna try that today.
Unless someone has another idea, ill let you guys know if that works or not.

Re: headlights wont turn off after motor swap
Oh yeah lol, I get confused some times, I post in both places just in case, so yeah, sorry soadweskey, didn't mean to take away your points lol.
Either way, I'm gonna check the relay and see if that works.
God I feel like a tool lol.

Re: headlights wont turn off after motor swap
Ok so I checked the relay for the headlights, swapped them with other relays in the fuse box and still the problem persists.
I have no idea what the hell it could be. Any other ideas?

Re: headlights wont turn off after motor swap
An update on this thread: Problekm solved.
After much seaRching and removing almost every possib le item related to the headlights, I still couldn't get it.
It wasn't until I got extremely frustrated that I decided to tear apart the dash to see if I missed anything. I dreaded this day.
I started with the column, removed everything, chased wired, ended up under the dash, removed everythinng including the fuse box, and there it was, the little sob that has been making me go under my hood to turn off my lights. One single connector with a single white and black wire all alone and not plugged it. I also found some wired with the insulation removed so I wrapped the with electrical tape.
Put everything back together, made damn sure I plugged that connector in, and sure enough, the headlights work normally, and my heater works now too.
So, if you ever do an engine swap, and you take out harness' make sure you plug everything in.
