Ok, I'm in the process of getting a 97 GST. The issue is that the car has problems with the cops do to the fact that it's jam packed with "illegal" parts. Here's my question, What do i need to replace?(what would they be looking for) I dont want to replace uneccesary stuff. |

I havent done anything, I'm in the process of getting the car. I test drove it and god that is fast machine. I opened up the hood, to start the BOV is as loud as it is big, the turbo ofcourse has to be swapped. Do i have to change the cams, the engine, ect. or just what they can see? |

if you have a big ass turbo and an after market loud bov to get their attention you might get stopped. Dont worry about cams they can see them |

Sorry, misread your post. Thought it was in your possession already. Cops generally look for shiny metal/bright colors since OE isn't usually flashy. Aftermarket BOVS, polished or chrome piping, colorful VAC lines, missing turbo heat shields, cone type air filters, FMICs, gauges in the cabin and in the engine, blinking electronics that aren't clocks or car alarms, racing seats and harnesses, cheater slicks, carbon fiber or lookalike, large exhaust piping or cans, missing cat (if they're determined to check) |

thanks that's actually a big help. As for the problem that it had before, i think im just going to "rent" the parts to have it pass the government inspection. |

Do A LOT of research and find out whats modified. Then replace all that stuff with stock stuff. If it needs to pass SMOG, it wont pass with ANY modifications. <period. |
