 Christmas in March....
While I was doing my weekly car wash this saturday,A friend of mine pulls up to my driveway with a gigantic grin on his face,Turns out he snagged some sweet parts of a Acura RSX Turbo'd from the junkyard he works at. Heres a list of what he got for me Greddy Type RS BOV Turbonotics Intercoolr + piping T3/T4 T04B Turbo complete with manifold,External wastegate and some other goodies 16" gunmental black enkei rims He let me have them all for 150$ My question is this, I want to know your guys opinion on whether this turbo would be too big for my DSM? I know nothing of turbos and pretty much want to be lead in the right direction. Before I even jump the gun, what should I check for to make sure the Turbo is in proper working order and not damged in any way.Any on here running this turbo on their dsm?Im excited to get this project underway and finally have some parts to put on my stock 2G.Any other recomendations on upgrading parts or installing new ones before slapping on this bad boy? I plan on taking my time and letting the proffesionals install this.Any info would be greatly appreciated. Will post pics tomorrow of the goodies I snatched Thank you

 Re: Christmas in March....
Check the turbo for in and out shaft play (shouldn't have any) and side to side (a bit is normal) and visually inspect that there are no cracks/broken pieces on the turbo. Now a to4b isn't big at all, if i remember correctly these usually flow similar to a standard 50trim. The only downside i see to using this turbo is that you will have to get another manifold and either a custom downpipe or buy an o2 housing from punishment racing.

Nice you are a lucky son of a dsm mother. Well yeah do what clockworktoy said and inspect the turbo I am also new into the whole turbo thing. I read almost everything about turbos. I took my own turbo out and put everything back together that is how I learn.

 Re: Christmas in March....
If it is in fact a GReddy turbo it would have a GReddy badge with an EO number (Executive Order) aka carb legal number.

 Re: Christmas in March....
The only type of badge I see on the turbo is that it says T3/T4 TB04 and 50 A/R TurboCharger. I just wish he could have gotten me that Type S badge or Acura Symbol........lol but heres some pics. We plan on putting the intercooler kit on this week the Turbo's prolly going to have to wait for awhile until I get some bigger injectors, fuel pump, and other goodies. Anyone know a ballpark estimate on how much this Turbo will add? Heres some pics. o0 and no Shaft play whatsoever Wastegate: brand and size unknown Turbo Intercooler Greddy Type S The whole thing image links fixed

 Re: Christmas in March....
Doesn't look like a turbonetics turbo, if the backing plate of the compressor housing has turbonetics stamped on it with some numbers then it i. Oh and that bov looks kind of funky.

 Re: Christmas in March....
I read somewhere that its a must to recirculate your bov and that one looks like it just vents or something. I know there is a way that you dont have to recirculate but I dont kno exactly what it is.

 Re: Christmas in March....
That turbo looks like it's from ebay. TO4B 50 is a small turbo. So it isn't that big

 Re: Christmas in March....
Ebay turbo, and ebay knock off Tial wastegate. Total crap. If it was a Gerrett turbo or a Turbonetics turbo (really garrett center sections) it wouldn't say "turbocharger" on the the turbo. If you are in the business of making turbos, I dont think you need to label them as turbochargers just for cataloging and inventory.
"fuck, ey earl, wutta ya think this thing is..." "dunno bob, it aint got a label it" "maybe its a toaster oven...do you think it looks like a toaster oven earl?" "dont know bob, didn't think we make toaster ovens right here in house at turbonetics" "tell ya wut earl, thats one bitchen toaster oven, but i just cant figure how it'll cook anything"
