| Post subject: | No boost? |
I finally got everything hooked up last night everything looks good but I am not getting any boost, I can rev up to like 6500 and i get like maybe 1 pound of boost, I took off the intake again today and there's no play on the turbo only a bit side to side but that's it, its not my mbc because i took it off the wastegate and still got no boost, i doubt i have a boost leak, and i don't think it would be that because id at least see some boost, but I have no compressor to be 100 percent sure, its a 60-1 turbo internally gated with a 2g mani and an evo 3 o2 housing if that matters, any help or suggestions would be appreciated here is a pic of what the setup looks like.

that's what I was thinking.... gus helped me fix 2 of the studs that were messed up on the head, and I put a new gasket that I bought on dyno day, it doesn't sound like before but that MIGHT be it... although i tightened those bolts as good as i could. |

forgot to say. it sounds like it still has an exhaust leak where the mani bolts to the head but i don't think its bad enough to cause me getting only like 2 psi its on there pretty good, any other suggestions? i will go down and try to tighten the bolts up some more when the engine cools a bit. |

wastegate stuck open?? a leak before the turbo can actually make that big a difference. |

yea that was another one of my thoughts, the car should be cool enough to touch now, I am gonna go try to tighten those bolts up some more, and I was also thinking it would be the wastegate, how would i be able to tell if its stuck on open or if its even opening? |

If you can hear the leak its big enough to have an effect on boost. I had a minor leak that i couldn't hear at the mani/head and as soon as i fixed that i noticed my turbo spool 200-300rpm quicker. Like i told you its either an exhaust leak pre-turbo OR the hotside might be mismatched and isn't working correctly. |

you have to really listen for it to hear it, and its not letting me get like any boost at all =[ and how would i know if the hotside is mismatched? |

mikey with his 50 trim had a exhaust leak and he couldnt make 5 psi. If your wastegate is stuck open you will get no boost, stuck closed = infinite boost. |

You should also do a boost leak test too. |

so me and Hugo found 2 huge boost leaks on the car and fixed those, there is another one that i suspect but was not able to check since i couldn't cover the inlet of the turbo to test it i ordered a new coupler to hopefully fix that, the car idles much better but still not seeing boost only like 3 psi I am hoping its leaking where im thinking its from, the wastegate opens and closes perfectly so it isn't that, and on a different note I think my clutch is going out =[ its hard at times to get into gear, it feels as if i don't have the pedal pressed in all the way but i actually do, so it seems i might need to do a clucth change... |
