Oil cap leak
I've been getting Oil leaking out of the cap an run down thru the middle of the valve cover an form a puddle... I know it's just releaving pressure, but why so much oil? I even notice alot come out when I feel like doing a pull down a street. I have to keep a towel with me now to keep the valve cover clean... Is there anyway to minimize the leakage or stop it completly? Only way I kno that works is to drive granny slow...
I bought a new oil cap, I also slapped on a breather filter, both didn't fix the issue, it still leaks out of oil cap...

Re: Oil cap leak
take your old oil cap gasket and put it under your new oil cap gasket so that you have two gaskets stacked now. that should fix your problem
oh and the breather filter isnt helping, matter fact it is making it worse, hook that line back up to the intake, this aint no Honduh

Re: Oil cap leak
also if you spray some PB blaster on the gasket it reconditions the rubber seal and it seals again try that

Oil cap leak
I bought a new one, it still leaked so I tried bending the flanges so it would give a tight seal... I ended up breaking the flange! Fuk. So I bought another new cap, stacked the rubber seal frm the (new) broken cap an it fixed my prob...
Ya I'm gonna put that line bak, I just don't like the idea of the intake sucking in oil.... It bothers me for some reason. I'll have to come up on a catch can soon

Oil cap leak
Well i found out it was my pcv valve being clogged, and after looking at it when i took it off, it looked very old. Possibly original. But ever since I installed a new pcv, no oil has been leaking frm the oil cap anymore. :::thumbs up::::
but, I do still see a leak, the inner valve cover bolts near the spk plugs, (the right side, bottom bolt) always has a small puddle of oil each day, a big puddle if I boost alot... But just a little driving (grany) slow. I read a few forums about valve cover leaks an this one dsm owner said that he had the same problem and found out that after tightening the valve cover too much, he created a hairline crack which has oil seep thru at mid-high idle/boost. I hope I don't have that, im gonna check it on Sunday when I'm off.
If I do, is it repairable? I don't mean like a temporary fix, but permanent. or do I need to buy another valve cover?

Re: Oil cap leak
Joker for the win. If it's cracked youre going to have to replace the valve cover, but maybe some jb weld can fix it, but I'm not too sure. You might just have to replace the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube gaskets, but that's an easy fix. To avoid cracking the valve cover, just torque down the vc bolts to about 10 ft/lbs, or just use a 1/4in. drive ratchet and tighten them snug, but not too tight since that's how valve covers break. I always torque down every nut/bolt and have never broke/cracked/stripped anything. A torque wrench is a good investment.
