Ive had the crank for my 6 bolt swap laying around safely for a while now and today i just noticed it had these nasty cuts to it. Im actually scared that ill need another crank. And there is also a "scuff" mark on one of the journal bearings but im planning on getting it tanked and micro polished. Would polishing help with the scuff?? Let me know what you guys think about it. Here are some pics.. Scuff on journal bearing..(lower left) ![]() And the cuts.. ![]()

General rule of thumb is if your nail "catches" the scuff mark, then a good polish is mandatory. At the minimum mic the journals for taper & out-of-roundness. If they're in spec hit them with some crocus cloth. |
