Re: power steering
power steering much easier to turn, more work with out power steering, if its a drag race car you dont need it but if its a daily you want it

Re: power steering
1g and 2g P/S pumps use different types of belts and the pulley's are not interchangeable. Any power steering without a working is going to be more difficult to steer than a manual steering rack. It comes down to preference but you wont cause any harm running it without a belt. My GST never had power steering and I pretty much got accustomed to driving it pretty quick.

Re: power steering
Again they use different pulleys and therefore different types of belts. If you really are set on making a 1g ps pump work on your 2g you will also need the small pulley that drives the ps pump that goes on the water pump.

Re: power steering
If you're just going to remove the pump and keep the power steering rack, I'd recommend "de-powering" it
