 Re: Over heating issues
If you cap off the openings your trans will overheat. You would need to run a separate external cooler which is what the 97-99 automatic 4G63 cars have. It looks like a tiny radiator and it is placed on the drivers side below the headlight.

 Re: Over heating issues
take the t-stat out just to eliminate that from the whole thing to help diagnose this.

 Re: Over heating issues
I keep readibg that the jiggle valve can vause the thermostat not to open correctly when I bought the thermostat new I did have a hard time opening the thermo by myself. My old thermo stat was easier to open this one. The one I put wouldn't open all the way.

 Re: Over heating issues
Just out of curiosity what happened if I took out the thermostat and still overheated. My overheating is very minimal but I wanted it how it used to be, the boiling lower radiator hose bugs me. It's like the cold water wants to go through the thermostat but it won't open so yeah will get to that and report back.

 Re: Over heating issues
if you take out your thermostat and STILL overheat, either you have a clog in the system somewhere, or your waterpump's not working properly. or lack of coolant.

 Re: Over heating issues
Word. Just take it out to eliminate that to see whether that's the issue or not

 Re: Over heating issues
Well I didn't want to bring this thread back but today my car overheated like crazy on my way to Hollywood. It got up to almost 3/4. The top radiator hose was bubbling but the bottom one well didn't get a chance to touch it but it wasnt as hot as the top one. On my way back to LA my car did not overheat at it did but very minimal then back to normal. I did notice some goey type stuff around were the thermostat goes. Also some white droplets looking thing on the turbo head and around the thermostat housing. I removed the upper rad hose with the fitting from the thermostat housing and found nothing is anything suppose to go there gasket or something. This car is really pissin me off.
