Re: Tranny issues
well a friend of mine and I took off the shift boot and took a look inside and seen that one of the rubber bushings on the bottom of the shifter was badly ripped and craked so could this be the problem?

Its 2.75 qts. You buy 3 bottles but you don't use all of it. I use Pennzoil Syncromesh

Re: Tranny issues
Replacing those worn bushings at the shifter base should help. Also, check the shifter cables in the engine bay to make sure they aren't worn out and kinking. That can lead to the feeling you're describing of having to force it into reverse. If neither of those help, just try shifting into...uh, 3rd (i think...sorry drawing a blank) before going into reverse. It's either that or 5th...try both. =P
Another thing to check is how tightly the reverse light is screwed in. If that is torqued down too tight it can make it real hard to get into reverse. To find that, follow the electrical wire to the switch on the top of your transmission.

Re: Tranny issues
lol thanks guys! Ok well I kinda fixed the reverse problem but now a new one was discovered last night while on the freeway! Keep in mind I just replaced the clutch with a new "OEM" kit from auto zone and also got the aftermarket 12 pound flywheel resurfaced! I only put about 200 mile or so on the new clutch "with no abuse"! so any way I was on the freeway last night and while in 5th gear I got on the gas a bit to get ahead of traffic. well While I was doing this once my rpm's reached 5,000 the clutch started to slip could this be from the clutch still being new and not broken in all the way? or is the motor pushing out to much power for the stock clutch to handle? " note at low rpm's gears dont slip"

Re: Tranny issues
This is Jeremy's old car right? That thing wasn't making huge power but I never would have put a stock clutch in it. You should have gone with a Center Force or an ACT 2100 and been done with it.
It might be slipping from the power the car is making but it also could be poor adjustment or improper flywheel step. Who did you have resurface the flywheel?
