Re: Tranny issues
Here are the links I promised you. Once you have good fluid in there, troubleshoot your clutch before driving around if you can.
- look at bleeding clutch line and clutch pedal adjustment - watch the one on clutch pedal adjustment - scroll down to clutch pedal adjustment - a VFAQ on bleeding the clutch line
***TAKE NOTE of the step in the TRE clutch bleeding FAQ where you purge the slave cylinder of bubbles. This is a very important step. Also, the video at Jack's is probably the MOST useful resource on DSM clutch disengagement issues that has ever been made.
Good luck!

Re: Tranny issues
Thanks Clint! ok well I checked the tranny fuild witht the help of a fellow mechanic and it was a bit low he also ran some test of his own and we both found out that the clutch was worn! also the slave cylinder was leaking a bit so I guess that explained my clutch pedal having no pressure when depressed. well I whent ahead and changed the clutch and slave cylinder and also filled up the tranny with 4 quarts of 75-90w gear oil as the dealer recomemed and the car drives good now. the only problem I ran into while I was at the bank one day was I couldnt get into reverse well I took the car back to him and he seen that some plastick clip had broke on top of the tranny so he whent to the junk yard and found a new one and put it on. and it fixed the problem but it still is hard to get into reverse! some times I have to try like 4 to five times just to get it into that gear....He says that the bushings or something like that are worn in the shifter concle. I do notice that when I try and put it in reverse it feels like the shifter is bending like it doesnt want to go in. could this be the problem? and also if so is there any way I can remove my concle and make ajustments to the shifter? Thanks!
