Well our flywheels are notoriously hard to resurface correctly and getting the step height right is extremely critical to the clutch functioning correctly. Personally I would never have a resurface job done without seeing the step height measured in front of my eyes.

Also do you know if the flywheel was surfaced on a lathe (a common but not correct way to do it) or with a stone grinder (the proper way but it is hard to find a machinist that even knows how to use this equipment properly).

Well the slipping at high RPMs is because the clutch isn't able to hold and that is probably caused by one of these problems.
1. The stock clutch is to pansy to hold the power.
2. The step height on the flywheel is wrong so the pressure pate isn't applying enough pressure to the clutch disk.
3. Pedal pump up is causing the slave cylinder to push on the clutch fork when you don't want it to.

The first one is your problem if no other problems exist.
The second one can only be checked by removing the transmission
The third problem can be checked by going under your car and looking at the push rod coming out of the slave cylinder and pushing the clutch fork while someone pushes the pedal. Have them pump the clutch pedal a few times and watch the clutch fork go back and forth. If it stops returning all the way and you don't feel any slack on the push rod then you might be getting pedal pump up. Google it for more info.

If you had the flywheel resurfaced than its probably not a fidanza, the fidanza has a removable friction surface that you replace instead of having them machined like other flywheels.

I don't know if Fidanza makes a steel flywheel but the common one is the aluminum one and it can't be surfaced. If your flywheel looks like this Image then that is your problem right there since resurfacing this would mean that the screws are now hitting the clutch.

I just checked Fidanza's site and the steel one has a replaceable surface as well. If your mechanic resurfaced one of these never let him touch a car you own again. It the mounting bosses were machined down to match the new surface and keep the step height right then you can now never use a new surface on this expensive flywheel or he didn't machine the bosses and now you have the wrong step height.

So in short either you don't really have a Fidanza or your mechanic is to stupid to touch a DSM.

hmm well ok maybe the flywheel is damaged. but i turned down the boost and it dosent slip any more. I guess the only thing to do is start over fresh with a 6 puck setup with a new flywheel :drinkers:

ok so a month has gone by since I replaced the clutch in this car and now the throw out bearing whent out. Thats what I get for going with a cheap auto zone kit  any way I talked to the same guy that installed the clutch the first time and I asked him if he really did resurface the flywheel and he said no because he seen that it had a reusable disk plate so that problem is ruled out I guess. SO now im on the search for another clutch but not any thing all crazy. Im on a budget and cant spend to much money right now. My car is still pretty much stock and doesnt make to much power so im looking for a decent OEM replacement kit. Any good names I should look at? Thanks
