clutch slave cylinder leak
ok so i was gonna head out today, i started the car waited for it to warm up yada yada.. when i was gonna put it in reverse the clutch pedal felt so light and when i pushed it in, it just stayed down it didnt come back up, i checked the fluid level in the reservoir and it was empty and so i checked the floor and i saw that it spilled all over, i was checking for leaks but i could tell where it was coming from until wally had told what it could be, so i checked the clutch slave cylinder and it was leaking from the boot heres a video, what i want to know is how did it spill what could have caused it and what can i do to prevent it again once i replace it http://youtu.be/da9PKfzgzR0

Re: clutch slave cylinder leak
The seal is blown, it pushes past the piston and drips out. Buy a new one.

Re: clutch slave cylinder leak
FYI (maybe it's too late) but as long as the inner bore of the slave cylinder is still smooth (no scratches/grooves) you can just buy the rebuild kit from Mitsubishi. Same goes for the master cylinder. Also, if your slave crapped out the master might be going too. Keep an eye on the adjustment rod under the dash to see if fluid starts leaking there.
