cold start problem
So my 4g63 swapped mirage is hard to start when its cold takes me 7 tries to start but when its hot it starts and runs fine. I'm stumped help I know this is a fairly common problem with dsms

Did you remove the EGR? When I removed the egr from my 2g it had problems starting up on cold starts. After normal temperature it went away.

there a coolant temp sensor the the bottom of the thermostat housing the plug looks like a "t" check if its not properly connected if its dead or not conected your car will have issues starting when its cold

i dont have an EGR and i dont have an idle air control valve but it starts up fine before just recently that this started happening and only when its cold

My car use to do that on really cold days but went away when i replaced the fuel pump

so i looked at it so this little 1 wire sensor the wire was broken off the connector so i solder the connector back on and plug it in it started after 2 tries but it still ran rough so im gna go get a new sensor and try that today btw i havea 6bolt on a obd1 harness and ecu with a SAFC

the one wire sensor is just for you dash the one you should be checking is the 2 wire sensor next to it that looks like this "-I"

Oh so the one with the -I connector is the ecu one there is a 3rd coolant sensor there idk if its for the fans... do u know what resistance the sensor is supposed to read?

so the problem seems to be fixed now that i replaced an ass load of wiring and replaced the sensor! when i first went to remove the connector to replace the sensor the wires literally desintegrated in my hands and every time i tried to strip the wires to add to what fell off more broke off...well the CEL is gone and it starts and idles fine im gna try it in the morning and hope this was a permanent fix
