UIC pipe problem
Well, I tore into my Eclipse today to swap out my Upper intercooler pipe, and only find out the gasket i bought from the mitsu dealer out here in IL sold me the wrong one. It's smaller and looks to be for the 2g bov *facepalm* The UIP i bought has holes drilled in it for another bov, I wanted to know if I can just fill the holes with RTV or something so I don't lose air out through the gap between shifts.
The other question is has anyone here had experience with leaks from their intake manifold?

Re: UIC pipe problem
1g bov gasket is like a 4" long diamond shaped gasket.... http://www.dsmparts.com/customer/image. ... e=P&id=646 looks like that. Throttle body gasket is this one http://www.rtmracing.com/xcart/images/T ... akeGas.jpgand didn't you notice that the UIP wasn't flanged for the 1g bov? if you did, the mitsu dealer wouldn't have the right gasket. Are you using a bov that works with that flange on the UIP?

Re: UIC pipe problem
I eventually got it figured out. I gotta wait for my wife to get finished with her school before I can show you guys. The Particular UIP I had bought had a flange for a 1g BOV, but some one had drilled 2 holes into it for a Type S Bov, not a 2g. So what I ended up doing was making a block off plate out of Aluminum and RTVed the plate and bolted it all together. Here's a pic of the UIP and the Ghetto gasket I manufactured.

Re: UIC pipe problem
Put RTV on the gasket and you will be fine The gasket will cover the holes It's looks like. The previus owner drilled those holes for a greedy type s

Re: UIC pipe problem
IIRC the greddy holes are just to the outside of the relief area of the 1g BOV, so you don't need to block them off or fill them in, but I could be wrong. I think the Punishment Intercooler kit comes with both sets of holes drilled and you aren't required to fill them in.

Re: UIC pipe problem
My uip has holes for both 1g and greddy, I switch bov's from time to time (with gaskets) and there's no leaks. Clint's right

Re: UIC pipe problem
If you look under the 1g BOV you will see a small hole thats the bypass and I remember I had blocked it off and I would get compressor surge cause the BOV wasnt opening. The way you have that plate your gonna get compressor surge because that plate will be blocking the bypass hole.
