Re: Time for a new turbo
Shit! So I'm guessing it was a bit more than just jumped timing going on there Edit: How do the pistons look? Remember the thread on tuners about the CP pistons melting right at the edge of the valve relief? Just curious to see if yours show any sign of it.

Re: Time for a new turbo
That's The first thing I checked. They definitely show heat spots & where in the verge of burning through. Kinda hard to get a good pic, but the sharp edge is a little warped.

Re: Time for a new turbo
Not even thinking about a rebuild. I have a stock long block I can drop in.........or move on to The Rumbler? Same color, minus the straight front axle & ladders.

Re: Time for a new turbo
That blows man... What do you think took out the rod bearing? Rear wheel drive, auto, 4G63 project for the Rumbler?

Re: Time for a new turbo
Not sure, could be wear & tear or maybe starvation. I'll check the mains & rest of the rod bearings.
They do make an adapter plate for a chevy trans to 4g63, but an AMC 360/390/401 pumping 500hp on pump sounds much more attractive to me.

Re: Time for a new turbo
Not unibody shoe boxes ala chevy II, falcons, darts, ramblers, etc. I think the rambler tips the scales just under 3k pounds.
