Re: Time for a new turbo
Sooooo, after being pissed at this cunt of a car for being a temperamental sob we finally kissed and made up. It took every ounce of energy to muster up the motivation to "get back into it". First, I started tackling the oil pump issue. Dropped the pan, oil pump out, back up pump in, ported the ofh a little more, done. Sent the msd in for repair, got back and installed, done. Rebuilt the fpr with new guts, done. Inspect the Golan fuel filter........record scratch.......wtf!!!! I find the element all fubar. Damn thing is all concaved & so filthy, no sunlight shines through. Well no fucking wonder she couldn't build any fuel pressure. Best part is, it's only about 1-1.5k old. I think a few here are using these filters. Check them and don't be a victim.

Re: Time for a new turbo
Yup, plus I took the injectors to EPI, here in Whittier, for cleaning & flow matching for good measure. Crossing fingers my stupid fuel issues are finally fixed.

Re: Time for a new turbo
Not sure yet, Mr. The Tank. See how she acts next week first. Plus, already looking into adding a 6-8 point roll bar next. Figured I could do all the grunt work at home like fitting & tac welding. Then take her somewhere for final welding.

Re: Time for a new turbo
Yep.. I'm going to straighten out the element as best as I can, sell it and probably try a fuelab unit. Hopefully fuelab isn't also an expensive piece of shit like this golan.

Re: Time for a new turbo
So, bringing this back from the dead a few things have changed. The first & foremost is I finally reached my goal in breaking into the tens. The initial plan was to either sell the car or part it out......well this thing is like heroin!!! I've come too far just to "give up". So now I'm keeping her & setting my next goal to 10.5. Before I do that I'm going to get a cage installed. Looking over the bible it states I'm good to 10.0 or 135 mph with a 5 point roll bar, as long as the firewall & floor remain unaltered. Knowing this it makes all the sense to go with a 10 point cage, due to trap speeds. It'll be pricey, so I'm gonna unload a few things to keep my out-of-pocket to a minimum.
