Anyway, back on topic:
Read the tech sections of
I advise you to find a BONE STOCK GSX if you can. The money it will cost you to soup it up will be WAY less than all the #@$'ed up parts you'll have to replace from the previous owner beating on it and doing screwed up hack-job mods. Plus, a lot of DSM owners tend to trash important stock parts when upgrading, and then you'll have to buy them to pass smog or get the vehicle looking clean again.
+1 on reading up at the VFAQ website. Very valuable information. Be aware of the known DSM issues such as crank-walk for 7 bolt 1g and 2g motors, worn clutch pedals for 1gs, idle problems, leaking capacitors on the ECU's, leaking transfer case, grinding synchros, etc etc etc.
When you find a DSM, take it to Road Race Engineering and pay the $100 to have them do a once-over. They'll find major issues for you.
