What is it about an intake that makes it illegal in Ca? I would understand an exhaust system...but why the intake? Also, if you buy one anyways, how can anyone tell if its ok or not?

What is it about an intake that makes it illegal in Ca? I would understand an exhaust system...but why the intake? Also, if you buy one anyways, how can anyone tell if its ok or not?

Manufacturers must present it for testing to the California Air and Recourse Board for emissions testing along with a lump sum of money which most manufacturers choose not to do since a) it's just California and New York that can't legally run their products on the street and get smogged and b) that won't stop people in those states from buying them. They need a CARB number signifying they meet CARB guidelines and can be used in your vehicle. |
