| Post subject: | Major exhaust leaks |
I've had really bad exhaust leaks between the head/ex. man. and the turbo/ex. man. for a while now. I have a 4 layer ex. man. gasket, and the RRE SS turbo to ex. man. gasket, and all nuts/bolts have been torqued, but I still have leaks. I pulled the ex. man. last night and held a straight edge against the mating surfaces, and couldn't *see* any imperfections. I haven't checked the turbo's mating surface or the head. I suppose the aluminum head would be more prone to warping from excessive heat due to exhaust leaks before the ex. man. would. I'm going to try copper spray, but I don't really want to do that. Any ideas on what the next step should be to take care of this? What's a ballpark cost on resurfacing the flanges on the ex. man. and the turbo? TIA |

I wouldn't expect it to be too much, i payed $20 to resurface my flywheels and close for the head too from a guy who knows his stuff. If you want i can get you the number to my machine shop |

Yeah, that would be cool. I might as well do it while they're out of the car if its going to be affordable. Where is the shop located? |

Well Greg at millenium is a DSM guy himself. So I trust he will do it right. |

Try this: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/article ... anges.html Also, if that doesn't work then try the copper exhaust manifold gasket from ffwdconnection.com its super thick. Jstoned1 tried it and it fixed his leaks even with 1 broken manifold stud. |

Great info. Those gaskets look sick. I might order a pair. |
