My problem is this I was given a sidemount intercooler by my friend. When I took my old one out there was oil inside I think it wasnt alot but when I tilted the intercooler I can see it running. What can be causing my intercooler to have oil inside. What are the side effects of having oil inside the intercooler. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCV_valve The oil that escapes through the PCV enters the intake tract and sweeps downward and collects in the intercooler. It happens in normal operation but excessive amounts of oil can point to ring failure (does your dipstick pop out at higher RPMs?) Run some gasoline through it till it comes out clean and let it dry completely. |

No my dipstick in place doesnt pop out. Im guessing it just normal my engine does act weird its because my timing is off by 2 teeth. Its not excessive the intercooler was on it side for a while so im guessing when I tilt it the other side the collected oil moved or something. Its not a lot of oil but I guess its normal never mind well thanks alot k christ, |

It's normal. Make sure your PCV valve works. Clean your side mount, and get a catch can. Side effect of oily intercooler, hot temps. Oil isn't a great heat conductor. |
