if you do alot of the prep work yourself you can save quite a bit. The prepping is what will determin a good paint job. You can also ask to see if they will shoot a supplied paint so you can buy your own quality paint. Spraying it isnt hard at all, doesnt take much time either so remember, your paying for labor. To spray a car probably takes 1-2 hours. Sanding, masking, body work, takes alot longer so you have to pay for that part too. If you do that part yuo do that part youself, you dont have to pay for that labor, also you can do it right by removing th headlights instead of just taping over it, you can remove the front and rear bumpers and skirts. Few things determine a good job, quality paint and prep. Spraying is spraying, theres no secrete special technique that will make the paint shiney. Its all just 18"-24" away from the surface, steady hand pacing, start from the top and move down. And only thing that would show up in a shitty spray job is if there are any runs and if it runs the painter should redo it free, not get paird, or kicked in his nuts really hard, hard enoughf or his legs to come off the ground becuase he sucks at his job.
