universal overhead valve spring compressor
Anyone on this forum use one of (universal ohv/ohc) types of valve spring compressor tools ?
I'm wondering if it comes with the correct socket size for a 4g63/4g64 .
If anyone has one that they're willing to rent/ lend that would be great too.

I haven't used any of those pictured. I made my own with using an old socket and a giant C-Clamp from harbor freight, it's not the fastest way, but it works just fine. IMO, if you're going to spend the money, you should just get the EuroExport tool: http://www.euroexportinc.com/mitsubishi ... compressor

Re: universal overhead valve spring compressor
Well I just went ahead and purchased one of these. Probably should arrive on Monday.
About the Euroexport tool, I looked at that, but could never tell if it would work with a 4g64 head. The boltholes and valves and spark plug guides are set up a little differently between the 4g63 and 4g64. Also, I have this 4g64 head with bad valves around, and I tried the thing with whacking the top of the valves with a socket and hammer and couldn't get anything to budge. There's one dsmer in LA with a 4g64/ Spyder who said he uses the Lisle tool.

Re: universal overhead valve spring compressor
Which tool are you talking about? I know the Eurosport tool works on a 4g63. The question is, would it work with a 4g64 (Spyder). Anyways, I ended up not using the OHV/OHC tool and took this 4g64 head to a machine shop.

Re: universal overhead valve spring compressor
is as far as I got with the Ebay tool and the 4g64 head. I decided this was not the way it was supposed to be bolted to the block and ended up not using it. One thing I couldn't determine is whether or not the cam needs to come off... seems like with the rocker shaft out it shouldn't be necessary.
