Misfire, plug died.
My car started misfiring yesterday and when I pulled the plugs I found this in number two. I'm going to try running some BR8ES instead of BPR8ES plugs this time around.

Re: Misfire, plug died.
I'm wondering if all that ceramic bouncing around in the cylinder and going through the turbo did any extra damage. I will have to wait until the engine comes apart when I am back in CA to find out.

Re: Misfire, plug died.
The ceramic insulator that goes around the center electrode to ensure that it Sparks at the end of the plug in the combustion chamber is completely gone. That plug was probably sparking way up inside and causing some misfire under boost.

Re: Misfire, plug died.
Ya, these plugs are put through some hell. That's why I replace every 1-2000 miles. But thats usually when I do my oil change and a fresh set of plug anyways.
I wouldn't expect major damage. I've seen worse come in when I was turning wrenches. And we would just give a new set of plugs and sent it on their way. Ive seen it to where the electrode and the ceramic is gone. Im pretty sure the ceramic disintegrated before huge chunks fell into the cylinder.
