What should I do about an engine?
My current 2.3 is shot already with less than 20k on the clock. Leak down test confirmed Cyl. 1 65% Cyl. 2 45% Cyl. 3 40% Cyl. 4 43% and all of them are from rings.
I contacted Jackson Auto Machine and they will do a rebuild to .040" over for $900 labor plus pistons and bearings so about $1500 if the crank and rods are still good. And I think they are since the engine runs strong it just eats a quart of oil every 200 miles.
Buschur won't touch a 2.3 but they said they would cut me a deal on the Stage 3 2.0 for a bit under $3k. I would still have to find a stick 6-bolt crank to use as a core though but then I could also sell my Eagle 100mm crank, Manly rods, and Wiseco pistons (if they are alright).
Also I'm pretty close to ripping out the DSM driveline altogether and converting to RWD with an LS3. (mostly kidding)

Re: What should I do about an engine?
Buschur builds sick engines, get away from the 2.3, its not working out for you right?
OR rip you pistons out, throw new rings on and cross your fingers

Re: What should I do about an engine?
The last option is best but with a ls7.....
2.0, that's what I would (have) do

Re: What should I do about an engine?
Yeah, I'm leaning towards the Buschur Stage 3 2.0 as well. I would build my own but I don't have the tools and time at my place in NY. Also I don't have any machine shop I trust up here. I'm just really sick of engines not lasting and I figure the Buschur engine is the way to go.
I do need to find a stock 6-bolt crank to use as a core though to avoid the ridiculous $500 crank core charge.

Re: What should I do about an engine?
I put a few feelers out here on the East coast to hopefully avoid shipping but I may be hitting you up for that Frank if my search here in the North East comes up Empty.
