Re: How-To: Oil Change questions
all you need is the oil and filter, drain fluid, replace drain bolt, change filter out with the new one and then add oil, the post you saw was most likely talking about bad valve stem seals, they will cause your car to smoke at idle, so unless you are smoking they are probably fine, good luck.

Re: How-To: Oil Change questions
I prefer WIX filters now. After asking around it seems their marketing and filter design aren't BS, and they're a step above other popular filters (K&N, mobile1, Fram, etc). Don't forget to fill the new filter with oil before putting it on.
Also, one step that I take that most people skip is cranking the engine over with no spark to get oil in the engine before starting it. After changing the oil I pull the MPI fuse and the fuel pump fuse, then crank the engine over until the low oil pressure warning light turns off and I see oil pressure building on the gauge. Then plug the fuses back in and start the car.

+1 on priming the engine after an oil change prior to first start. Then after you start it let is sit and run for 30 sec or so. Shut it off, let sit for a minute and then check oil levels again.

Re: How-To: Oil Change questions
go to the dealer, like a dollar something. I buy 10 filters and washers at a time and put each one in the oil filter box for the future.
