Okay, I have quite a bit of experience with 1g drivetrain issues, and there's a million threads on 'tuners about clutch/TOB noises, but this one has me baffled.
I have an intermittent problem where when I push the clutch pedal in I get this extremely loud squealing/chirping sound that sounds like a loose accessory belt and I feel vibration in the clutch pedal. It only happens after putting significant load on the engine (doing a WOT pull), and it happens for a bout 3 seconds when pushing in the clutch pedal for the first time after a pull. It happens right after the pull or a while after the pull after stopping for a red light. After that initial few seconds, the noise/vibration goes away and won't show up until I put significant load on the engine again.
This is hard to troubleshoot b/c I have to go do a pull and then come back, park it, open the hood, and depress the clutch pedal to hear the sound. Can't really pinpoint it w/o a 2nd person to listen to it in the engine bay. I'm going out in a bit to put the car on stands and inspect all the basic stuff to see if there's any visual indicators. Initially I thought TOB is going out, but a bad TOB would make a constant sound, and I'm curious as to how the sound is related to the load conditions the engine is seeing.
Any ideas?
