Did a Decibel Reading On My Exhaust
So last night waiting for Sam to come out to Simi to work on James GST I broke out my new Droid phone. Earlier in the day I downloaded the decibel app. James held it 3 feet behind the Exhaust while I reved the engine to 3500rpm's. It read 119dbs. I have a 3" turbo-back with an Apexi muffler.

I don't know why you gave the shocked face. I thought it was pretty common knowledge that the apexi style exhausts are way over the legal limit.

Re: Did a Decibel Reading On My Exhaust
My 3" cat back on a N/T hit 100 dB and I thought mine was loud.

Re: Did a Decibel Reading On My Exhaust
You also are supposed to be at a 45* angle from it.
Apexi is actually pretty quiet compared to other companies like Thermal or HKS. Part of that is the "resonators" that are actually just it restricting flow (both in the piping itself and the muffler).
The other option is to make your own catback. You'll be getting better flow (more power) and possibly quieter depending on the muffler you choose. Much like Clint's and Mike's (RiG) setup.
