There isn't a drop of oil underneath my car, but the bane of my existence has been MF'ing exhaust leaks. I just can't get rid of them. I've got a nasty exhaust leak between the exhaust manifold and head towards the timing belt side. It gets really hot there and keeps melting the corner of my timing gear cover. I've pulled the manifold, had the flange milled, and spent the big bucks on the FFWD embossed copper gasket. Still leaks. Any ideas? Could such a prolonged exhaust leak have warped the mating surface on the head? If so can anything be done about it w/o pulling the head? I'm getting sick of this shit. |

I had one that bad and it warped my manifold, but looks like you got that taken care of already, once I switched my manifold and fixed the stud and used a new 4 layer gasket i was fine, but what i also did was spray some of that copper spray gasket thing that's in a can, you can buy it at autozone, i think that helped a lot on mine, i sprayed it with a good few coats on both sides and presto no more exhaust leak. Hope this helps. |

i've had that problem as well, usually it's been because of the nuts on the exhaust studs coming loose after a while since a little difficult to tighten on that side due to the power steering pump bracket. RRE's 4-layer mani gasket has helped with that. though i think i still have a slight leak. maybe you can take off your manifold and take a straight edge to the mating surface of the head? |
