Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
Well i am running out of fuel at about 5200 rpms so in theory if i can activate the pump like meth injection under a certain load then i should be able to maintain my afr up to redline in theory. It is basically setting it up like meth injections. Same rules apply. If meth doesn't turn on under serious load of boost KABOOM!! My concern of running both at the same time is the power consumption.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
So the MS-V wastegat and O2 housing just came in today. Looks good and it is even the newest revision of the gate that has provisions to liquid cool the wastegate.
I haven't found much information on using the liquid cooling because it is brand new. I'm wondering if it will be worth the trouble for me to plumb some -4 water lines to the wasetgate.
Also the flange on the O2 housing doesn't sit perfectly flat on the turbine housing. It looks like a nice SS gasket should take care of it but I'm thinking it might be worth it to pay a machine shop to face the mounting surface, I would give it a go myself but I have no clue how I would set up this weird shaped piece level in a vice on the mill.
I'm still getting a few line fittings and things but I should hopefully be able to start the turbo install Monday and finish it up late Tuesday night after school.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
If I were you, I would find a way to use the water lines. They designed this one for road racers who would be drafting behind cars and such where there is no airflow to cool it down. It needs to be cooled down (at least the top) to make sure that the spring doesn't start to sag and not hold the required boost pressure. Overall, makes it last longer and run correctly in harsh conditions. Not too sure how it would affect someone running a boost controller besides getting better spool after shifting from the gate shutting faster.
You should be able to use the old turbo waterline ports to plumb it unless you went with a NT waterpipe.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
I welded the fittings on my water pipe closed. I may get another pipe eventually and weld -4 fittings to it but for now I will just run it without them.

Cooling lines for the wastegate? What will they think of next. Honestly i think the simpler the setup the better, less shit to go wrong, less possible leaks, cleaner overall. Old school 38mm tial's have held up to harsh conditions so im sure the new design is equally as strong (unless they made it weaker and are compensating with the new coolant lines).

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
Pulled a serious all nighter and the the Holset is now in the car. I now am in need of some serious tuning but I am to damn tired to deal with it right now.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
Rigged up a cheap boost gauge to an extra oil filler cap tonight. The exhaust scavenging is not cutting it. This Friday I will move the vent line to the intake and compare but boosting only 11-15psi I'm getting 5psi in the crank case.

Crap. Hopefully the intake routing helps. I thought you had 2 ports so you could do both...

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
I only have one port in the valve cover. But if using the intake does not help then I will probably add another.

Re: Wes's Car finally acting like a DSM.
Switched it to the intake pipe today and it was way better. At like 17 pounds of boost I was not seeing any pressure in the crankcase at all.
Pretty psyched on it. Ready to get this sled tuned.
